NCD 2011 PBR Photo Contest

Go on, get your cameras ready, find that creative spark and some friends willing to smile and say "cheese" in the name of Pabst Blue Ribbon beer and National Corndog Day.

It is with great excitement that we here at NCD headquarters proudly present the fourth annual Pabst Blue Ribbon photo contest. Like last year's contest, the rules are simple. First prize will take home their very own PBR mini fridge (something every corndog party needs), second prize $50, third $25 and each of the top five will also have a free NCD party pack sent to them for their 2010 festivities.

Your submitted photo must at minimum, include PBR and a corndog. Photos that don't will not be considered. Judges will be on the lookout for something unique that encapsulates the spirit of NCD.

To enter, simply find a bit of inspiration, point, shoot, and ~~submit your photo on the NCD website.~~ The contest will be open to submissions until April 2. Winners will be declared on April 9, one entry per person so make it count.

Please keep it (mostly) clean.

Charge up the batteries, set up the tripod and finalize your choreography. National Corndog Day is making the video contest a tradition.

It is with great excitement that we welcome the National Corndog Day Video Contest back for another round in 2011. The rules are pretty simple really:

Shoot some video the day of your party
Your movie must include prominent footage of corndog(s)
Chop it down. Edit it to no longer than 60 seconds
Post that masterpiece to YouTube
~~Submit the URL for your video on our contest page~~

How will we determine the winners? Hey, we may not know art, but we know what we like. Do something that impresses us and you could win. Winners will receive a free party pack for next year’s Corndog Day party. The contest will be open to submissions until April 2. Mark your calendars, send out the invites and fire up the oven, National Corndog Day is back on March 19th, 2011!

Another year of dogs, tots, hoops, beverages and hoops Madness tips off on March 19th. All across America the celebrations will rage as the official meat-on-a-stick holiday celebrates its 19th glorious year.

A couple things to remember as you get ready for this year:
First things first- make sure you register your party to make it official. tab. Step by step instructions are in the FAQ on the site if you have any questions.

Next- Anytime after February 7th you can place your orders for the PARTY PACKS. Order early because we have a limited quantity. This year we stacked the packs with party musts like Foster Farm corndog vouchers, a scoreboard t-shirt, the official NCD 2011 poster, and more crazy decorations than ever before.

Finally- At the party make sure you take and post pictures, comment via your own blog feed, and check out the party contests. As always we will have updates throughout the day and we want to hear from you!

Most importantly, have a GREAT time celebrating with your friends and family!!

The countdown is on, Corndog Day is coming, and we can’t wait to see what you bring to the table this year.

We're getting ready to relaunch the site for 2011. We're hoping to have party packs available for order, and party signups open for business, in early February.

Until then, we've reset the clocks and last year's party hosts won't be able to post to their party blogs until 2011 signups are open.

National Corndog Day took its official place in American history on Thursday, April 22nd when Alex Trebek broke out this question on Jeopardy: "The national holiday for this food is in March" and they showed a picture of a corndog. Victory! Validation! We have officially arrived and we are here to stay. National Corndog Day is ready to explode in 2011...put your seatbelts on.

Jones Soda says: Poem the heck out of that Corndog Day

The 2009 Jones Poetry Slam is now closed!

Muse, thy name is Corndog.

Jones Soda is calling all inner poets to pour your heart and soul into an ode to Corndog Day. Haikus? Sure. Wack rhymes? Absolutely. Long-winded iambic pentameter…uh, not so much. Here’s the thing: it can’t be longer than 240 characters. YES, including spaces & punctuation.

What’s the contest?

Write up your best corndog poem. Submit it to us by March 31, 2009. The top management at National Corndog Day and the nice folks at Jones Soda will judge them and pick an overall winner. That person will receive a Jones Prize Pack.

A Prize Pack? What’s in it, what’s in it?

It will be filled with indescribable riches and lavish…ok we don’t exactly know yet. We’re working that out. But our hand to corndog, it’ll be sweet.

240 Characters? Why so stingy?

ONLY SO MUCH FINE PROSE CAN FIT ON ONE SKINNY JONES SODA BOTTLE AND One, reading takes time, and neither we nor Jones has a ton of it. Two, the overall winner will have his or her poem printed on THE OFFICIAL NCD JONES soda bottles next year. But mostly it’s the reading thing.

Corndog Muffins

2 (8.5 ounce) packages cornbread mix
2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 cups milk
1 cup grated Cheddar cheese
9 hot dogs, cut in half

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Lightly grease muffin tins or line with papers.
Stir together the cornbread mix and the brown sugar in a large bowl. Whisk the eggs and milk in a small bowl until smooth. Fold the eggs and cheese into the dry mixture until moistened. Spoon mixture into muffin tins until 2/3 full. Add 1 hot dog half to each muffin.
Bake in a preheated oven 14 to 18 minutes, or until golden brown.

***I sometimes sprinkle cheddar cheese on top about 10 minutes into baking***
