National Corndog Day was featured this morning on the local Portland television station KGW. Live from Pioneer Square with Drew Carney from 5:00 - 7:00 a.m. Yes that says A.M. The host ate his very first corndog, a strong NCD contingent was on hand and corndogday.com got plenty of exposure.

Look for replays on the local tv site, hopefully in the coming days.

Every great holiday needs a great song. A song to encapsulate the true meaning and passion behind the holiday, a rallying cry to the masses to come join the celebrations. National Corndog Day is no exception, but surprisingly (to us anyway) the world seems to be lacking in songs about the corndog. Until now.

National Corndog Day has unearthed a little piece of song writing gold. Talented singer / songwriter Ben Brennan has written a song that’s as catchy as it is heartfelt. Although not essentially a song about NCD, ”Corndog Day (at camp)” truly captures the corndoggin’ spirit within us all; dragging us on a stroll down memory lane to long, lazy summers, dreaming of corndogs!

For example, a recent item on the food blog Serious Eats about foods on a stick led to the State Fair combo plate: corn-dog sausage, s’mores pancakes and chicken-fried eggs. New dishes are printed on the menu the same day: “I spent almost $3,000 on toner in the last three months,” Shopsin says.

In addition to the Brady's traditional fireside chat, WGN ranged all over the greater Chicagoland area to record how corndoggers outside the Corvallis party sound falling off a deck in a triple-double-stupor.

I think we might have run this link before, but it's a new year and there are at least 30 new parties! Some of you may not know about cornholing!

The awesome superlee has a whole lot of cornholing experience and suggests you visit the American Cornhole Association if you have any questions.

Can anyone provide us with a link for dogholing? Totholing? Beerholing anyone? I think corndogs are a healthy part of a modern, holistic, lifestyle...

DES MOINES -- During tax season this year, Iowans are asked to show
they care for the Iowa State Fair by participating in the Corn Dog Tax
Checkoff.

"The Corn Dog Tax Checkoff is a simple way for Iowans to show they
care for the Iowa State Fair and preserve this great institution for
future generations," said Blue Ribbon Foundation executive director
John Putney.

Look for the State Fairgrounds Renovation Check Off on line 59b of
Iowa Tax Form 1040 or on line 16 of Iowa Tax Form 1040A.

The Corn Dog Checkoff has raised more than $1.2 million, and has
supplemented restoration projects from the Agriculture Building to Ye
Old Mill. In addition, funds generated by the Checkoff have helped
improve the campground, parking areas and restrooms.
