NCD Portland: Starting slow, finishing strong
Submitted by JordoPDX on Mon, 03/19/2007 - 07:02
NCD Portland had a good final turnout. The festivities didn't really get going until the second tipoff of the day, but then good folk a-plenty came out for it. Beautiful weather might have been the culprit, but it also extended the party into the backyard which was a nice treat.
Of note this year, was Portland's first (I don't know if it was the nation's first) BACK-TO-BACK TRIPLE DOUBLE, completed by Jeff Bernius, much to the dismay of his wife and family.
All told, we had probably 30 people with an estimated 115 dogs consumed.

7: National Back-to-Back TD Record (and still counting)
A repeat TD is definitely an impressive mental and physical feat -- nice work.
To Jeff and Jordan's question: the longest running active triple-double streak is now at 7 years, held by Bob "Ishi" Ishikawa. Bob started the streak in Washington DC, and continues it out here in SF. The silent assasin did it again this year, with about 2 hours to spare.
We're thinking about funding a tour next year so he can visit some sites and share his knowledge and wisdom.
back to back
Back to Back is very impressive. Wisconsin has a three peat TD performer looking to make it four straight in '08. I have never heard what the national record is for consecutive TD's.
Tourney is now over in WI since the Badgers choked.
