For those of you who may be first timers at this grand event, let us describe it as the happiest day of basketball and meats on sticks that you'll ever have. National Corndog Day coincides with the Saturday of the final 32 teams in NCAA basketball tournament (this year it’s March 19th). This Saturday is the only day all year that one can watch a quadruple-header of college basketball games from start to finish without having to change the channel. Therefore, to celebrate the excitement of the college basketball tournament, and have fun with friends, we eat Corndogs! Lots of Corndogs...
Each year, National Corndog Day coincides with the Saturday of the final 32 teams in NCAA basketball tournament, also known as March Madness.
National Corndog Day 2011 is on Saturday, March 19th.
There is no magic formula for numbers, but we like the following rules of thumb: at least 8 corndogs, 80 tots, and 8 beers per expected participant. That way you can count on some extras.
Morningstar Farms used to make an excellent vegan corndog (apparently salt and a meaty texture inside a cornbread shell is all you need to make something taste like a corndog.)
However, they stopped making them late in 2009 and there's no word when or if they will start up again.
If anyone else knows of a veggie corndog brand, please let us know!
If you're a Party Host, you can post to the NCD party blog. You can also upload pictures to that party image gallery, or for use in your blog.
We'll cover blogs posts and images in this section, and provide links to some fun stuff.
